Maison Radisson inc.

Founded in 1975, the Maison Radisson is dedicated to the social reintegration of individuals who were in conflict with the law. Its action is two-fold:

  • Social, i.e. the client’s behavioural and personality adjustment;
  • Economical, i.e. personal autonomy.

    Approach

    The Maison’s approach is based in reality therapy and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). Individualized according to the specific issues and goals of each individual, it aims to bring the resident to change their lifestyle. The Maison Radisson Inc. offers a CRC, a CHC and a specialized drop-in centre for sexual offenders.

    Capacity

    • The CRC has 33 places, including 9 for the DQCS and 14 for the CSC
    • The CHC has one (1) place reserved for the Directorate of Correctional Services
    • A few places are provided for referral services, emergencies and voluntary services

    Admission requirements

    • Pre-assessment on file or in person
    • Being respectful of the schedule and rules of the house, and participation in housekeeping

    Exclusion criteria

    • Unstable psychiatric cases
    • People using a wheelchair

  • Sexual delinquency management and treatment program

    Description

    Of a minimum of 10 months, this therapy program for sexual deviants is mainly focused on relapse prevention and the modification of deviancy patterns through NLP (neuro-linguistic programming). This program is structured to fit each individual’s needs.

    Clientele

    The Centre welcomes adult male offenders referred by the CSC and the Directorate of Correctional Services. We also offer therapy to an external clientele.

    Exclusion criteria

    • Cases of aggravated sexual assault (Art. 273 of the Criminal Code)
    • Mental disorder and uncontrolled drug abuse cases
    • Insufficient understanding of French

    Description

    This program comes from the Maison Radisson, a non-profit organization founded in 1975. In collaboration with Emploi-Québec, this project has been active since June 2001 and aims to reintegrate men and women in conflict with the law or suffering from drug abuse, to the work force.

    Clientele

    • Designed for an adult clientele of individuals in conflict with the law or with drug abuse issues, the program welcomes individuals:
    • With chronic difficulty of finding and keeping a job;
    • With little or no significative employment experience;
    • With limited knowledge of the labour market and existing resources;
    • Whose main issue is linked to delinquent behaviours or drug abuse, and whose index of social dysfunction is high;
    • With low self-esteem, who have difficulty in positively presenting themselves;
    • With high risk of prolonged unemployment, but motivated to reintegrate the labour market.

    Clinical approach

    We offer an environment-type intervention, referral to existing resources for the clientele, legal assistance and clinical follow-up. We facilitate the clientele’s social reintegration by exploiting their potential for change.

    Clientele

    The community monitoring program is for adult offenders referred by the Correctional Services of Quebec.

    Capacity

    The program monitors 406 offenders in the community, in the Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec regions.
